What is the Difference between a Doula and a Midwife?
Midwives are pregnancy and birth specialists. They are professionally trained to provide necessary medical care and to monitor the health and well-being of you and your baby. Doulas are a part of your birthing team, working along with a midwife or doctor and nurse. They do not provide medical care and do not catch babies. A doula's job is to provide continuous emotional and physical support to the labouring person and their partner.
